A wastewater producer is referred to as an indirect discharger if he/she discharges its wastewater untreated or pretreated into the municipal sewage treatment plant and thus "indirectly" into the receiving body of water. In addition to the households connected to the sewer system, commercial and industrial companies therefore dischargers their wastewater indirectly.
